With the money left over after buying books and school supplies, West Middle Community School requested that we buy playground equipment so the students would have something to use while they were out at recess.  Here’s the first load, going in my car from my house to the school.

The last of the school supplies left today for West Middle Community School.  What a long haul!  But we finally made it.  Are we done yet, though?  No, not quite.  We still have some funds left, and we’ll work out what to do with it with the school in the upcoming weeks.

All of the school supplies are finally here, and all that could fit in a pick-up truck left today.

The last of the school supplies are arriving.  Those boxes marked heavy, really were.

More items are arriving, and this time I seem to be keeping the piles neat and even organized.

This is actually the second pick-up this week.  The first one, only one teacher could make it up, and he couldn’t get all of the boxes into his car.  So we arranged a second pick-up, and four teachers were able to make it for this one.  We were able to make very quick work of the remaining boxes.

We’re getting near the end of the teachers’ wish list.  We’re probably 75% of the way through, maybe a little more.

This is the best way possible to give a sense of the volume of items we’ve been able to purchase for the students at West Middle. The TeacherDollars grant has made a substantial difference for the students at West Middle, as well as for the teachers and staff there.

If it looks a little brighter than usual, that’s because the loading dock door is open.

Boxes are still coming, but we’ve started to bump into holiday shoppers competing with us for items on the teachers’ wish list.  Quite understandably, Amazon has limited the amount of certain popular items, but it has slowed orders down to a crawl.

The teachers came by today to collect the boxes.

I thought it would take more than two days to need the third pallet, but there you have it.  And as you can see, we have a fourth on standby.

And we have a third one set aside, just in case.

We’ve gotten through most of the school supplies, so now we’re focused more exclusively on books.  It is surprisingly difficult to get things delivered to Veeder Place – we rarely even try anymore – so the books, which will be arriving in multiple small shipments, will be visiting my home before heading up to the Veeder Place loading dock.

The loading dock seems like a great system for transferring boxes to the teachers from West Middle.  Not only is it really simple to hand the boxes over, it keeps us socially distant.

We’ve taken over a spot on the Veeder Place loading dock.  These boxes represent two separate deliveries:  the brown boxes on top came from UPS today, and the white boxes on the bottom were delivered by a trailer truck right up to the loading dock door.  I think we may use this spot more regularly.

We are underway with our purchases for West Middle Community School with the funding we received from TeacherDollars.  These boxes arrived today at the office, and we’re looking forward to receiving many more.
