The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center hosted an unveiling ceremony for the newest marker on the National Votes for Women Trail on Forest Street today.  The marker, which notes the location of the Isabella Beecher Hooker House (it’s officially the John and Isabella Beecher Hooker House, but John can sit this one out), commemorates the work Isabella did to advance the cause of women’s rights in America.

The house’s address is actually 140 Hawthorn Street, but it’s best seen from Forest Street.  The house was also the inspiration for NINA’s townhomes on Hawthorn.

The marker will be installed later this year.  There are seven stops on the trail in Hartford.
