The pothole over on Huntington Street was a proper sinkhole – the ground beneath gave way. Over on Sargeant Street, at the intersection with Garden Street, potholes are created by utility work. In this case, CNG cutting into the street and then not properly restoring the street. I already know what CNG, and the City, will say: CNG isn’t done with the work yet. It’s been ongoing for over a year, and they don’t come back for months, but what’s the point in asking them to do a proper job patching the street if they’re inevitably coming back to tear it up again?
The answer is that the one patch at the manhole is sinking. Of course, today, more work is not only inevitable, it’s imminent … .
