Walking home, down Cogswell – an additional car piled into the box as I got across Asylum Avenue.

There is something inherently suspicious about a group of people standing in a circle in an unused parking lot ….

The lot is owned by Trinity Health New England, i.e., Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, and it is sometimes used as a satellite parking lot for hospital staff.  There have been rumors afoot that the City of Hartford has been eying this lot, which actually stretches most of the way westward to Sigourney Street, as a potential site for housing development.  Could be that this is a preliminary planning meeting … ?

I do love the poor guy standing way off to the side, on his cell phone.

Examples of blocking the box are common – usually, though, they are people turning right from Asylum into the Trident.  A vehicle turning left into the Trident is rare.

Photo taken while walking by – there’s no reason to assume that they won’t reassemble the historic porch, but there’s also no reason to assume they will.  The condemnation order is still visible on the front door, and the historic Charter Oak marker remains in place on the porch post.

Caught a glimpse of this driving by today.  Normally, work to repair a condemned building would be good news, but in this case they haven’t pulled any permits, which means there hasn’t been any historic review, which means that yet more damage could be done to the house.  Fingers crossed, I suppose.
